Artist: Mario Raposo
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Mario Raposo is an eclectic and self-taught musician. His taste and influences encompass jazz, classic music, New age and electronic, and film score. For the past years, Mario Raposo has been creating music on his keyboards for film scores, commercial documentaries, advertisements, TV generics and CDs. A true product of his times, Mario Jorge does not hesitate in injecting into traditional forms a more modern language. He has experimented mostly with fusion, i.e.: jazz; traditional Portuguese and new age (especially used on documentaries); electronica, dance and new age; and orchestrations through the use of synthesisers. Highlights: Um Natal Distante - a made for TV short-fiction directed by Carlos França, produced by IRIS - in collaboration with RTP-Azores. Based on a script by Azorean writer DIAS DE MELO. Broadcasting by RTP-Açores, RTP-2, RTP-Africa and RTP-Internacional – 1998. Azores in Expo 98 - the main theme of the promotional film made for Azores pavilion at Expo 98 in Lisbon. Directed by Carlos Franca and produced by IRIS – 1998. Azores, Treasures of the Atlantic - a commercial documentary directed by Carlos França and produced by IRIS – 2000. If God Will Send His Angels – Participation in a Cambodian movie directed by K.M.Lo (2005) with instrumental track “Short-cut to Heaven”. It is currently on several Asian cinema festivals.
