Hi and welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
I work out of my home studio and compose/record/produce every kind of music imaginable. Recently I've been concentrating mainly on songwriting. I plan to release a CD
in the spring.
Over the years I've been fortunate enough to record/tour with some great people: Katrina & the Waves, Richard Carpenter, Marc Jordan, Cindy Church & Sylvia Tyson in pop/country and in blues Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Carlos Del Junco, Georgie Fame, Colin Linden & Snooky Prior.
I've studied/played a lot of jazz & classical but my favorite style is riffing out on blues & rock. My favorite guitarists are the usual suspects: Beck/Hendrix-ALL the Kings. From the newer camp there's Stevie Ray Vaughn (whom I met and opened for eons ago)-Eric Johnson: soulful and technically savvy players. I love to sing blues-especially post-war Chicago stuff-however I tend to write and sing a fair bit of folky/jazz/pop stuff too.
I read a lot of lyrics: Dylan-Cohen-Mitchell and tons of musician biographies: Jelly Roll Morton-Bill Evans right thru to Marvin Gaye-Lennon & recent pop culture stuff.
One book I can really recommend is Bob Dylan's "Chronicles"-it's like 'watching' him write songs. One of my favorite lyricists is Leonard Cohen; the guy my parents played at night in the 60's while I tossed & turned & tried to sleep! Today I think of him as a "Martial Artist Master" of lyrics & poetry...he has such command-he'll put wind in your lungs or knock your knees out from under you before you know what's hit ya! Love Dylan too-he's just more "FREE-WHEELIN"!
Well that's the ground at my back for now.
Thanks.
